Just back from leading an intensive, four-day retreat with high school junior and senior girls. (This was my third such retreat this school year. One was with boys, and the other two with girls.) It was an awesome experience for everyone involved.
Today’s first reading from Isaiah 55:10-11 feels apropos:
Thus says the LORD:
Just as from the heavens
the rain and snow come down
And do not return there
till they have watered the earth,
making it fertile and fruitful,
Giving seed to the one who sows
and bread to the one who eats,
So shall my word be
that goes forth from my mouth;
It shall not return to me void,
but shall do my will,
achieving the end for which I sent it.
It is a miracle to see the Holy Spirit work. Look for these miracles. They are all around us, everyday, every hour, every minute. It is easy to spot them on a retreat, but they can be just as easy to spot in and around our everyday, busy lives. You just have to open your heart…
