Our esteemed state leaders decreed that every school in Oklahoma will have spring break at the same time, that is, during the third week of March. As the weather would have it, we have had four days straight of rain and gray skies with temperatures in the 50’s and 60’s. Today, the last official day of spring break, is the first day of bright, sunny skies.
Last week, which had been my school’s tradition spring break until last year, was gorgous. Every day was sunny with three or four of them in the 70’s. (70° weather in early March is a little unusual in Oklahoma, but not rare.) Ironically, I had predicted to one of my classes that at least three of our spring break days would have rain. I wish I had been wrong. But as my students would say, no school on a rainy day beats school on a sunny day. They are correct.
Again, as the weather would have it, the forecast for next week looks like we will go back to school on several days of sunny, 70° weather.
